The Making America t-shirts feel soft and lightweight, with the right amount of stretch. It's comfortable and flattering for both men and women.
When I made this illustration I thought about how it would come together for weeks before I actually put a pen on paper. From the very beginning, I was all in my head about it. The flag. The making of America, America as a symbol of freedom, the thread as hair. A spool of hair. Not just any hair, kinky hair. Tough hair. Resilient hair. Her expression, her posture, how her hands would lay on the flag, should she be rough or gentle? Should it be in color? Does it tell the wrong message? Is it the truth? My mom came across my drawing & actually suggested that I bring it to light. That's a challenge for me you know because it's like my baby. Anyone who understands the emotional impact of creation will know what I'm talking about.
You're basically gambling the worth of your art when you ask someone to interpret it👩🏽🎨. Within 5 minutes of posting this image, I saw interpretations that blew my mind. Everyone's interpretation was so special and unique yet in sync. Based on these responses my illustration is now available on this soft and lightweight cotton t-shirt, a transformation that even I'm excited about.
